Over
the years, the professionals at Second Alliance have achieved
maximum results by being reasonable and using positive reinforcement
to guide borrowers in the right direction. We never resort
to coercive or overzealous collection tactics. Rather, our
telephone and mail campaigns always emphasize the benefits
of payment in full, as well as our commitment to finding a
workable solution to their financial obligation. This approach
not only greatly increases the likelihood of collecting the
debt, but protects your institution's image.

Our
experienced collection team uses dynamic presentations
to move quickly through the barriers of nonpayment.
We will help students locate untapped assets and other
money sources or direct them to a network of lenders
offering special loan programs for high-risk borrowers.
If a student is unable to pay the entire loan balance,
we will analyze their financial situation to establish
a written repayment schedule that is reasonable, affordable
and will pay off the loan as quickly as possible.

Second
Alliance has designed special programs to bring students
current on their accounts and keep them there! Our "4x4"
pre-collect program consists of four letters and four
telephone calls designed to make the student aware of
their impending default status, and the actions necessary
to cure the account.

Using
cutting-edge technology, we search and cross reference
millions of database records to quickly locate your
student borrower. Our skip tracers use artful telephone
presentations to obtain current home address, telephone
number and place of employment, and our exclusive Family
Tree Builder locates relatives to form a valuable
third-party information source.

If
collection efforts go unanswered, as a last resort Second
Alliance has the capability of providing highly effective
litigation services. We will file the case, serve the
summons and complaint, set the case for trial, make
court appearances, and then obtain and properly document
the judgment. We will then secure payment by executing
a wage garnishment, property lien or bank levy.

To
ensure accuracy, our streamlined credit reporting system
electronically transmits new and updated files to the
major credit bureaus on a monthly basis. Reports include
creditor name, account number, date of service, date
of last charge, high credit balance, current balance,
date of delinquency, last payment date and account status.

Federal
Perkins Loan Program
Title 34 part 674.10 of the Code of Federal Regulations gives
priority to these low-interest loans to students with exceptional
financial need. As a result, delinquent and defaulted borrowers
of this program require special attention. Although all accounts
are handled professionally, collectors working these cases
have an in-depth knowledge of the program and its due diligence
requirements. Cohort accounts - always top priority - are
flagged for immediate recognition. We also specialize in administrating
the Federal Loan Consolidation and Rehabilitation Programs.
After helping students electronically file loan consolidation
applications, we monitor the process weekly until funding
is complete.
